Everything Legal - President Trump Triggers Surge in Interest

 It's been palpable to those of us who cover anything associated with the legal sector: a surge in subscriptions, reposts, comments and even LinkedIn News features. 

For example, an article on this platform about the future structure of law - not exactly clickbait - brought in more than 22,000 page views, reader response and peeks at my profile. In addition, of course, there has been new business developed for my intuitive coaching/tarot reading services. 

I pondered: What is causing this?

Is it the financial performance - record revenue and profits - at Paul, Weiss? Youth may be envisioning that career path for achieving great wealth.

What about the projections by Paul, Weiss, as well as Sullivan and Cromwell, concerning the impact of AI on manpower demand in practicing law? The 1Ls in law school may not have jobs in two and a half years.

Is global goliath Kirkland & Ellis losing its dominance? Latham stole the leadership in M&A assignments. Paul, Weiss has been raiding Kirkland & Ellis' talent regularly.

End of speculation. Now we know why. The Hill documents what's driving this recent interest in all-things-legal:

"President Trump’s first year back in office kicked off a variety of legal challenges and policy changes spanning federal spending practices to sweeping tariffs, prompting Americans to scramble to understand the size and scope of these reforms ... As a result, readership and engagement has spiked at several publications."

With this weekend's actions by the Trump administration associated with Venezuela, the overall fascination with legal whatevers should continue to explode. Were those actions legal? Timing is almost everything. This blog had been launched at the right time. I thank readers for following the content and LinkedIn News for featuring it.

Paul, Weiss' 2026 Partner Class: 8 of the 28 Based in London Office

It was back in 2021 that Paul, Weiss chair Brad Karp hammered growth as the critical factor for law firms. That was in a seminal interview with Bloomberg Law. Without that, a firm could go out of business, Karp posited. A key driver for growth had been hiring and retaining legal stars. That poaching requires a hefty financial war chest, which Paul, Weiss has kept adding to since 2021. In 2025, so far, Profit Per Equity Partner is up 11%, with revenue increasing 32%. Recently, much of that lateral action has been happening in London. High-profile during the past several years, for example, had been the multiple raids on Kirkland & Ellis' London office for brandname talent. AI Power/Mobility Reset: Junior Lawyers Could Shake Up Law Firm Business Model

One of those we-all-know is that last March Paul, Weiss chair Brad Karp stated in The Lawyer Monthly :  "Junior Lawyers Will Be ‘Significantly Replaced’ by AI & Tech"  But now we're getting a fresh perspective on this.  Sure, there'll be reduced demand for junior lawyers.
